For underline bridges, trains can be run normally (regardless of the bridge classification) as long as you can establish beyond reasonable doubt that it was definitely struck by a light vehicle.

The exception to this would be if the light vehicle was on fire.

Movements must also be stopped for the following:

• Rough ride within ½ mile of the bridge or track or debris on the line
• Vehicle or load on fire under the bridge
• Vehicle wedges under the bridge and any of the following apply:
  • Carrying hazardous goods
  • People reported trapped in vehicle
  • BSN or BSE tells you vehicle is substantial and not possible to examine bridge until removed
  • Vehicle being removed (unless vehicle is not substantial, and removal will not affect the bridge)
