Light Vehicle Dispensation
What is classed as a light vehicle
Car, motorcycle or transit van or smaller
What is a light vehicle dispensation
For underline bridges, trains can be run normally (regardless of the bridge classification) as long as you can establish beyond reasonable doubt that it was definitely struck by a light vehicle.
The exception to this would be if the light vehicle was on fire.
Other Movements
Movements must also be stopped for the following:
- Rough ride within ½ mile of the bridge or track or debris on the line
- Vehicle or load on fire under the bridge
- Vehicle wedges under the bridge and any of the following apply:
- Carrying hazardous goods
- People reported trapped in vehicle
- BSN or BSE tells you vehicle is substantial and not possible to examine bridge until removed
- Vehicle being removed (unless vehicle is not substantial, and removal will not affect the bridge)

Search Tips
- If you are searching for a bridge with a low number (e.g. Bridge 7) then end the search with a # . For example, if you search for 7, you will see results for 70, 71, 72 etc, but if you search for 7# then you will only see Bridge 7.
- If you are looking for a bridge that ends with a letter (e.g. Bridge 63C) then just search for 63 (or 63#).
- If you are looking for a bridge that starts with a letter (e.g. Bridge MCL 13A) then just search for 13 (or 13#).
